about the projectwe created a real time art show for figment boston in 2011 and now in 2012 on the rose kennedy greenway in the heart of boston. the real time art show was an experiment in social photography. our goal was to create a gallery that was created in actual time, and altered over the course of the event. the project asked figment participants to contribute to the gallery in various ways: as photographers, subjects of photography, and curators of photographs. during figment, our team roamed around, taking photographs of people, art, exhibitions, clouds, pets, anything and everything that we saw. as the photographs were taken, our team printed and displayed the pictures in our "gallery." as more photographs were taken, more were added. participants were invited to not just view the displayed art but to interact with the photographers and photos, blurring the line between the artists and the subjects. and if they liked a particular photo, they were welcome to take it home with them. as photographers ourselves, we believe that pictures are collaborations. pictures are not created by the one pressing the shutter button. photographs require a subject to create an image. photographs require an audience to respond. it is the intersection of these corresponding participants that make art. and figment was the perfect place for this. images from 2011click on the images below to view our album or video from the 2 days at FIGMENT 2011.
